Meghan Parsons, Associate Director Named General Chuck Yeager Unsung Hero

Written by: Meghan Parsons

I think Sam Dennis deserves a huge high five for the great event that he hosted at the Jackson County Airport!!! Such a great turn out for the General Chuck Yeager Aviation Day. There was also Women in Aviation, Girls in Aviation, and Young Eagles activities. The DNR and even local law enforcement were there along with HealthNet. I was nominated an Unsung Hero and was asked to attend to event. I even got my own VIP parking spot! I met the wonderful Ms. Victoria Yeager and took a fantastic flight with Joey Rivera. Joey has a flight school here in Jackson County at our airport and also does the ground classes. I love that he and his wife have a passion for sharing their interest with others and trying to spark the interest of others. All it takes is one flight to get hooked, that is easy to see. If you are interested in class, you have to get with him.
We are blessed with a great airport here and a beautiful terminal. We are hoping to expand the runway length by 1,000 feet in the near future. Our airport not only sells AV gas but jet fuel now as well. I think Joey would have liked to teach me a few things, but I was just in awe of the beauty from the flight. Not mention I was REALLY enjoying seeing all of the industrial park I work so hard to promote and care for as well as the many projects in Millwood I have been so involved in.
I may be bias, but I really Jackson County.
Meeting Jerry the snake and Ford the turtle was really my second favorite part of the day. The DNR was so awesome to let us all love on the critters.
