Jackson County still leads the State of West Virginia in employment !!!
Jackson County maintained its place in West Virginia’s lowest unemployment rate for August 2019 according to Workforce West Virginia. Jackson County posted a unemployment rate of 3% followed by Jefferson and Berkeley County in the eastern panhandle.
Governor James Justice recently reported that West Virginia has the lowest seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in more than a decade at 4.6 percent.
Jackson County is basically at full employment right now with more jobs coming according to Mark Whitley of the Jackson County Development Authority. We have several Jackson County businesses expanding and we lead the state in new business start up’s according to Whitley. “Exciting things are happening in Jackson County” said Whitley.
