Ripley has Olympic size municipal swimming pool. The Jackson County Junior Fairgrounds attracts crowds each year for the annual Jackson County Junior Fair as well as gospel sings. Camping is available, and as a result, the grounds are in use throughout the year. Cedar Lakes Conference Center, a state-owned facility, offers fishing and recreation year round and hosts camps for 4-H, bands, and church groups. It also provides week long and weekend classes. Hiking and walking trails are also available.

There are many historical sites and festivals. The Annual Mountain State Art & Craft Fair is held in July and is known for hosting unique shopping, family fun, and entertainment. The 4th of July celebration features a parade, fireworks, and entertainment.
